Forestry News
way’, Hello. Spring is here and with this renewal our planting program is now in full swing. In addition to the several species of conifers we plant every year, we also planted 1,100 huckleberry shrubs. We had a great turnout and a beautiful day and planted all of the plants before the day became too warm. Thanks to everyone who came out!
Our contractors began their season in the Upper Glenrosa area near the Telemark cross-country ski runs. Here, we’re doing a partial cut that thins out the forest while still providing habitat for mule deer. See the attached video clip at the bottom of the forest management webpage.

Our Forestry Crew continues to complete forest fuel modification projects around wildland-urban interface. This spring most of this work has occurred in the Trepanier and Upper Glenrosa areas.
We continue to work with UBC to develop a process for making wood fibre insulation board from logging and fuel modification residues. Our first panel prototypes have been produced and now are undergoing testing at UBC.
