Winter 2026 Updates

Forestry News

way’, Hello. Our logging program commenced shortly after Christmas, a little later than most years.  This winter NRLP’s contractors were busy in the Big White area harvesting small patches and building temporary road within our First Nation Woodland License.

This is the first permit we’ve harvested under this new tenure. A significant portion of the stumpage that Ntityix pays to harvest this timber is returned to WFN upon permit completion. Our forestry crew completed some wildfire mitigation maintenance work around Lakeridge Park before returning to the Upper Glenrosa area to work on additional wildfire mitigation there.  An unusually low snowpack at this elevation allowed the crew to work in this area throughout the winter.  The crew will be working there right through until the summer.

We are gearing up for one our biggest planting seasons ever. This year’s planting program will be 835,000 seedlings, most of which will be planted in the McDougall Creek wildfire area. By early summer, all the area that was salvaged from the wildfire will be planted.
